In fact, it wasn't until the 1990s that Jamaican winemakers began to take a serious interest in reviving the industry.

In the early days, wine production was largely focused on producing fortified wines, such as sherry and port, which were popular among the colonial elite. However, with the decline of the sugar industry and the rise of other agricultural pursuits, wine production gradually fell out of favor.

Fast forward to today, and Jamaica is once again at the forefront of wine production, with a renewed focus on producing high-quality, internationally-competitive wines.
